Bridging the Gap: Leapworld Limited’s Mission to Empower Nigerian Youths
Challenge: In Nigeria, where 31.4% of youths are disengaged from education, employment, or training, the urgency to combat unemployment is paramount. This backdrop set the stage for the USADF-LSETF Employability program’s initiative to empower Nigerian youths for a better future.
Action: Leapworld Limited, leveraging a $65k grant from USADF and LSETF and receiving technical support from Diamond Development Initiatives, rolled out a focused training in digital marketing, sales, and office administration, targeting the reduction of youth unemployment.
Result: The program trained 150 students over a year, with a significant 58% female participation, achieving a 58% job placement rate. Among the impactful stories is that of Balogun Damilola, who shared, “Through the training, my understanding of the roles and responsibilities of an Office Administrator has been enlarged, unlike the limited knowledge of the duties of an Administrator that I had before the program.” This testimonial underscores the transformative effect of Leapworld’s initiative, marking a significant stride in enhancing employability skills and income generation among Lagos’s youth.
