Challenge: In Egbeke, Etche LGA, Rivers State, GVE pinpointed over 300 households living in darkness, highlighting a critical need for sustainable electricity access in contrast to the global push towards energy inclusivity.
Action: With a $100,000 USADF grant and DDI’s support, GVE embarked on electrifying 140 households with an 18kW solar solution, pioneering access to clean energy in the community.
Result: The project expanded to a 100kVa system, lighting over 250 homes and businesses, and catapulting GVE to local and international acclaim. This initiative marked the beginning of GVE’s nationwide rollout of 14 solar mini-grids, totalling 2.54MWp, enriching 10,282 entities and generating 2,198 jobs, showcasing the scalable impact of renewable energy on community development.
