Challenge: In Nigeria, where women lead in entrepreneurship, they face formidable barriers, including discrimination, patriarchal norms, and limited access to resources, which COVID-19 exacerbated, threatening the survival of women-owned businesses.

Action: She Works Here Ltd/GTE, with a $250,000 grant from the U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) and DDI’s support, launched an intervention targeting 25 women-led businesses in critical sectors. This initiative provided financial aid, business development training, and technical assistance to navigate pandemic-induced challenges.

Impact: The project significantly aided 25 businesses, indirectly supporting 1,327 entrepreneurs and retaining 2,552 jobs. It also attracted additional funding, showcasing a successful model for empowering women entrepreneurs in challenging times.

She Works Here Ltd/GTE is a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing women’s entrepreneurship in Nigeria through grants, training, and mentorship, aimed at overcoming the unique challenges they face in the business world.
