Cooperatives are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity, according to International Cooperative Alliance, as the members believe in the ethical values of honesty, social responsibility and openness, among others. Cooperatives are also guided by Cooperative Principles which serve as guidelines for putting their values into practice. They include Voluntary and Open Membership, Democratic Member Control, Member Economic Participation, Autonomy and Independence, Cooperation among Cooperatives, Concern for Community, Education, Training, and Information.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗦𝗔𝗗𝗙 – 𝗟𝗦𝗘𝗧𝗙 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺: 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙟𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮 𝙨𝙤 𝙛𝙖𝙧

From program inception to date, a total of 4172 young people in Lagos have participated in the ongoing USADF-LSETF employability enhancement program. Out of that number, 3478 successfully graduated from various training courses and have been empowered with trade-relevant and job-readiness vocational skills to either launch their SMEs or take up available employment opportunities. A total of 2074 representing 50% per cent of the graduates have been placed in paid post-training internships where they will further hone their skills and expand their network.

Hosted via @TwitterSpaces and with the focal topic: “Financing Renewable Energy for the #EnergyTransition”, @davidarinze_ spoke about the role of government, individuals, youth and other stakeholders in financing the #energytransition.

Yahya Abba is one of the Field Agents (FAs) currently reaping the gains of the STaR Project’s initiative of addressing the challenges of seed production and distribution by building the capacity of FAs to be community-based seed producers for their respective communities. His seed production business started with cowpea in the 2020 farming season.

The 2022 edition of International Girls in ICT Day was commemorated on April 28. With this year’s theme as Access and Safety, the day which is marked on the fourth Thursday in April is set aside to inspire a global movement to increase the representation of girls and women in technology. The day lends credence to the now widely accepted truth that science, technology, and innovation remain key drivers of our increasingly global and digital world, with science and technology playing a huge role in all careers.

DDI Appoints New Board Member

Diamond Development Initiatives, a development service organization has announced the appointment of a new member to its Board of Trustees. A statement signed by the organization’s Communications Specialist, Lucky Ihanza disclosed that the new Board of Trustees member is Halima Bawa-Bwari – who is currently the Acting Director, Department of Climate Change, Federal Ministry of Environment. Halima brings to the table her rich experience in nature conservation, climate change resilience and climate finance issues including the green climate fund and the green bonds.
