Diamond Development Initiatives (DDIinvites applications for nine (9) positions in order to implement its component of the USAID Rural Resilience Activity (The Activity). The Activity seeks to increase smallholder household incomes and reduce poverty in North Eastern Nigeria through their improved participation in inclusive agribusiness value chains and market opportunities. The overall objective is to offer opportunities that will yield partnerships to at least 50,000 smallholder farmers in Borno, Adamawa, Yobe and Gombe States to increase their incomes and reduce poverty in Northeastern Nigeria through their improved participation in inclusive agribusiness value chains and market opportunities.

The Activity seeks to improve the resilience capacities of conflict-affected households, communities, and market systems using market-led approaches layered with complementary investments in humanitarian assistance in order to contribute to economic recovery and growth. Diamond Development Initiatives will deploy a market-driven model that will address the constraints of weak institutions, rising cost and limited availability of Agri-inputs; outreach to customers and out-growers, embedded services available to smallholders as well as limited and uncompetitive value addition and processing.

Working closely with public, civil societies, and economic actors, the activity seeks to broaden and support inclusive and resilient growth through agricultural competitiveness.

The following qualifications and levels of experience are desired:

  1. Project Coordinator – 1 position (to be based in Yola, Adamawa State)
  • A Master’s degree in Crop Production, Agronomy, Extension or any related field
  • At least 5 years of direct involvement in community development work
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and have a high proficiency in the use of a computer, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint presentation, etc.
  • Practical evidence of managing similar projects or holding such a position in the past.
  • Familiarity with the culture, terrain and farming methods of the North East is a key requirement.
  1. Project Officer – 3 Positions (to be based in Borno, Gombe and Adamawa States)
  • A degree in Crop Production, Agronomy or a related field
  • At least 3 years of direct involvement in community development work
  •   Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and have a high proficiency in the use of a computer, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, etc.
  • Ability to speak Hausa and/or Kanuri will be an added advantage
  1. Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Officer – 1 Position (to be based in Yola, Adamawa State)
  • A Degree in Agric. Economics, Extension, Statistics or related fields
  • At least 3 years of direct involvement in providing monitoring and evaluation support for related programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and a high proficiency in the use of a computer, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, etc.
  • Ability to speak Hausa and/or Kanuri will be an added advantage
  1. Finance & Admin Assistant – 1 Position (to be based in Yola, Adamawa State)
  • A degree in Accounting, Business administration or a related field. Relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage e.g. ICAN, ACCA
  • At least 5 years of experience with a reputable NGO or donor agency.
  • Knowledge of grant and donor fund requirement
  • Knowledge in the use of quick books and other accounting packages
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and have a high proficiency in the use of a computer, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word etc.
  1. Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Assistant– 3 Positions (to be based in Borno, Gombe and Adamawa States)
  • A degree in Crop Production, Agronomy or Agricultural Extension or any related field
  • A minimum of 1 or 2 years of direct involvement in community development work
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and have a high proficiency in the use of computer, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, etc.
  • Ability to communicate in Hausa and/or Kanuri language is an added advantage.
