Unguwa Uku Nagarta Women Farmers CSL

BACKGROUND

Unguwa Uku Nagarta Women Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative Society (UNWFMCS or Cooperative) is a cooperative society wholly owned by a group of resource poor women who engage in small-scale rice production, processing and marketing. All 149 members are women. The group is located at Unguwa uku quarters in Tarauni LGA of Kano State. The group produces and processes paddy into milled table rice using traditional methods and equipment. UNWFMCS is unable to meet local demand with existing supply, due to the fact that business management, financial management and accounting structures and technical production capacities are low.

Unguwa Uku Nagarta Women Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative Society is currently a beneficiary of the USADF capacity development grant. The 2-year grant is aimed at building the capacity of the cooperative members in the identified areas where they are lacking.
